The recent recognition of a role for the immune system in the pathogenesis of hypertension, atherosclerosis and stroke represents a paradigm shift in our understanding of cardiovascular disease mechanisms.

Current therapeutic approaches, based on non-specific ‘risk reduction’ through drug therapy or life-style changes, are only partially effective in preventing cardiovascular events. High quality, collaborative basic research elucidating the key immune mechanisms responsible for vascular disease and end-organ damage should reveal targets for more effective cardiovascular therapies.

Thus we warmly welcome everyone to join our discussion of this important topic.
We believe that comprehensive program prepared by us will provide a valuable starting point for future collaborations and grant applications.
